A 39-year-old woman has died after falling ill during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership game against Aberdeen on Wednesday. Emergency services raced to Ibrox shortly after the match kicked-off at 8pm.
The woman was then rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan where she was tragically died. Police Scotland confirmed they are treating her death as unexplained but not suspicious. Officers will send a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police Scotland said: “On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, we received a report of a woman having taken unwell at a match at Ibrox Stadium. Emergency services attended and the 39-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she died.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 8.10pm on Wednesday, January 15 to attend an incident on Edmiston Drive, Glasgow.

“We dispatched one ambulance and one paramedic response unit (PRU) to the scene. One patient was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
The match itself saw Rangers win 3-0 with goals from Hamza Igamane, Leon Balogun, and Cyriel Dessers.
