Woman ‘deliberately’ driven at near Birmigham Mailbox after hotel ‘fight’

Disorder broke out at a West Midlands hotel before a woman was ‘deliberately’ driven at and assaulted. The violence took place at around midnight on January 2 in Birmingham.

A fight involving a number of a people broke out in a hotel reception in the city. Shortly afterwards, a woman was deliberately riven at and assaulted on Wharfside Street, which runs through the Mailbox.

Police have already arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of assault. But officers are still trying to speak to the woman to make sure she is alright.

West Midlands Police has also appealed for any potential witnesses to come forward. The force said there was a group of people in the area when the assault took place.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating after a woman was deliberately driven at and assaulted in Birmingham. It happened in Wharfside Street at just after midnight on January 2.

“A fight involving a number of people broke out in a hotel reception. Shortly after, a woman was deliberately driven at and assaulted a short time after.

“A man in his 20s has already been arrested on suspicion of assault, but we are looking to talk to the woman who was assaulted to make sure she is ok. We know there was a group of people in the area when the assault happened, so we are urging anyone who saw what happened or knows the people involved to get in touch with us.
