A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a crash in Exmouth. Devon and Cornwall Police said the collision took place outside Home Bargains on Salterton Road at around 2.30pm on Friday, January 10.
The crash involved a silver Nissan Almera and a female pedestrian. Police said a woman, aged in her 70s and from Honiton, was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where she remains with life-threatening injuries.
A man in his 50s from Exmouth was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving. He has been released on bail until April 2.
Investigating officers are now appealing to the public for information. They are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
“They would also like to hear from any motorist who may have captured the collision on dash cam. Please contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 455 of 10/01/25.”
