Woman sexually assaulted on Leicester bus

A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted on a Leicester bus. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with one person arrested in connection with the assault.

The incident happened on the number 58A bus service travelling between Leicester city centre and Hamilton on Thursday, December 5. The victim reported being touched on the bus some time between 12.25pm and 12.45pm.

Leicestershire Police said following the incident a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. In a statement issued today (Wednesday, January 15) the force said he has since been released on bail.

Investigations into the assault are ongoing. Police are now looking to trace a woman who checked on the victim’s welfare in the wake of the reported incident.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for another woman who spoke to the victim to check on her welfare to come forward.”
