Shoppers have been left dismayed after vandals struck at Stoke Market twice in two weeks. The owners of Castle Garden Ornaments in Stoke turned up this morning (January 15) to discover two of the market’s windows had been smashed.
They have since been boarded up and the South Wolfe Street market is open as usual. Sharing details on social media, Castle Garden Ornaments said: “Not what we was expecting to turn up to today but we are still open as usual. Always plenty of ornaments in stock and on display to choose from.”
Traders and customers weren’t surprised by the mindless damage. One stallholder wrote: “As a trader in the market it’s getting worse. We had a window smashed last week on the other side of the market and then we come in to this damage this week. Hopefully they can catch who is doing this and I hope it doesn’t put people off coming down. We are still open today so please come and support all of us at Stoke Market.”
A shopper added: “I don’t know why people feel the need to vandalise a property that’s clearly in business. I hope everyone is okay though and nothing got stolen.”
And a second one said: “It’s getting worse all over Stoke-on-Trent.” StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police for a statement.
